Kristiansen - Catalogues of Nordic Late Bronze Age hoards, periods IV-V, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Polen

Catalogues of Nordic Late Bronze Age hoards, periods IV-V, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Polen

Abstract Catalogue of Bronze Artefacts with drawings and additional information
Keywords Late Bronze Age, Hoards, Period IV-V, Northern Europe

These catalogues are the results of my documentation of Late Bronze Age hoards from Montelius Periods IV-V (mainly), first in Denmark, and later also in Sweden, Norway, Germany and Poland. I started with Denmark, for my PhD, during the years 1972-1974. This was followed by travels to museums in Sweden, Norway, Germany and Poland during the following two to three years.  I described my experiences of working in museums in the new preface to my PhD dissertation available on my academia webpage. It is also reprinted below.

I attempted to visit all museums with Nordic Late Bronze Age hoards, but a few were omitted due to various practical reasons, but in these cases I received photographic and other documentation. Otherwise all documentation are my hand-drawings and rubbings of decoration, which can only be properly illustrated through a high-resolution scanning. That is why the documentation is rather heavy to download. I supplemented with other documentation of hoards when it was available. Sometimes I only supplemented recent documentation, such as those published by Henrik Trane of select, important hoards, in the Inventaria series.

The documentation is divided according to period and region. This is how I organized my binders. And this is how the scanning is organized as well. There is a separate documentation of all golden eidrings.

The writing is in Danish, and a combination of handwriting and machine writing.
